COMMUNITY OUTREACH  Dick Wowak / Marilyn McGoldrick

Mary Rose Verdile and Stephanie Barnes continue at the pace of almost one drive per month. We are in the May Diaper Drive at this time.  They also are looking for increased interest and support of the St. Peter Claver Parish in New Orleans. Suggestion by Carmen to have someone design a board that will show what people are giving to.

CCD/YOUTH GROUP Bobbi Moran

Classes have wrapped up for grades 6-9.  The Youth Group finished their year with a speaker and a breakfast, many thanks to Laurie Schwartz and her team for a wonderful and inspiring year.  The 10th grade will have confirmation on Saturday at 5:30 with Bishop Rosazza.  Forty-two young men and women will receive the sacrament.  A brief reception will follow.  Registrations for the 2007-2008 CCD year are in.  I will be reviewing the curriculum for all grades in the coming weeks.

FINANCE COUNCIL REPORT Carmen Brickner

Finance Council met April 25, 2007.  Members Present:  Fr. Cody, Dennis Rusconi, Rich Marone, Barbara Murphy, Pat Teufel-Driscoll, Bill Davis, Cici Baker, Pat Pruitt, plus Representatives of Abate Associates: Deb Abate and Joyce Leo,  and Denis O'Sullivan & Justin Gilhooley.

Two auditors from Abate Associates who have been retained by the Archdiocese to work with parishes to set up QuickBooks as the means for keeping a uniform standard of financial records presented its capabilities.  Pat Pruitt has been working with them for several months and the new system will be fully operable by the end of June.

Driveway and parking lot:  Denis O'Sullivan and Justin Gilhooley reviewed cost estimates. Paving is scheduled for August by E.J. Haverty , lowest of three equally qualified bidders. The current pavement will be pulverized and used as the base for the paving; the current granite curb stones will be reused; they will be set in cement which was not done previously and is the reason for their current irregular appearance. Denis suggested bituminous curbing be installed around the circle in front of the church.  It would make a nicer appearance and make care of the circle (plowing, etc.) more manageable .The Finance Council agreed.  Total estimated cost: $213,018.

Rectory windows - Because of the old and poorly installed vinyl siding on the rectory, installing new windows would be extremely difficult and expensive ($30,000 or $1000. per window), and cannot be done without redoing the siding.  It was agreed that we should not go ahead with the windows at the present time, that Denis would get a more accurate estimate than his projected $100,000.  We will meet again to review this problem.

The new organ purchased from G.Paul Music Co will be installed in August ($80,000).  Ron Rothermel has donated  $l6,000. for special features he would like to have added to the organ.  Vernon Electric will install new exterior lighting starting in mid May ($33,685);  Chimney pointing will be done on the rectory chimneys by Alec Bain  ($4,900.)

An appropriate salary adjustment for school principal Stephen Balkun was approved.
